Wawa Goose

A place to live, work and play.

Welcome to Wawa, a small friendly Northern Ontario community located on beautiful Wawa Lake at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17) and Highway 101.

We are often remembered for our famous Wawa Goose Monument… a giant goose which proudly stands at the entrance of our community. In fact, it's reported to be the most photographed landmark in North America.

Many fishermen come to cast their line in our many rivers, streams, and lakes including Lake Superior. We are accessible yet completely remote for those who wish to escape into the wilderness.

As many other Northern Ontario communities, Wawa's history is steeped in the mining of minerals. Although it was gold that first attracted many prospectors to the area, it was the discovery of hematite ore that provided the mainstay industry for Wawa and was a major contributor to our growth as a community.
