ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT

TEMPORARY CAMP ACCOMMODATIONS – 120 pINEWOOD DRIVE

TAKE NOTICE that the Municipality of Wawa has received an application from Mr. Trevor Laing requesting a temporary amendment to Zoning By-Law No. 2821-15 on land located at 120 Pinewood Drive legally described as Part Location CK-85, Registered Plan 1R-1265, Parts 1 to 3, Parcels 5528 AWS, in the Municipality of Wawa. The zoning amendment if approved would permit the development of a temporary work camp accommodation (trailers) to house up to 170 persons on the site for a period of three-years.

A PUBLIC MEETING as required under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, to inform the community and interested persons of the proposed Temporary Use Zoning By-Law Amendment and receive public comments will be held on:

DETAILS OF THE TEMPORARY USE ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT

The purpose and effect of the Temporary Use Zoning By-Law Amendment if approved would permit temporary work camps (trailers) and accessory uses on the property for the purposes of providing temporary housing accommodations for contractors performing work at Alamos Gold for a period of up to 36 months (3 years).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Any person may provide written submissions regarding the proposed zoning by-law amendment to the Clerk to be received by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, sent to moneill@wawa.cc or by mail to Clerk, Municipality of Wawa, Box 500, Wawa, P0S 1K0.

Any person wanting to make an oral statement during the public meeting should contact the Clerk at moneill@wawa.cc or 705-856-2244 ext. 223 by 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, to ensure inclusion in the meeting agenda. Participation at the Public Meeting by ZOOM may be arranged, but advanced arrangements must be made with Clerk.

NOTE that if you provide a written submission or make an oral statement regarding the proposed amendment, your name and comments will become part of the public record.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY wishes to be notified of Council's decision on this proposed zoning amendment, you must send a written request to the Clerk at moneill@wawa.cc or Municipality of Wawa, 40 Broadway, Wawa, ON, P0S 1K0.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council of the Municipality of Wawa to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality of Wawa before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make an oral submission at the public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
