The Municipality of Wawa invites prospective businesses, food-service operators and entrepreneurs to submit a concise proposal to operate the canteen at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre (MMCC) for the 2026-27 season.

THE OPPORTUNITY

•     Proposed lease term: October 1, 2026 to April 15, 2027.

•     The Municipality will cover utilities and provide existing canteen equipment as-is, including a fryer, stove, refrigerator, freezer, and microwave.

•     The operator will provide food and refreshments, staffing, inventory and ancillary equipment; maintain the canteen; and obtain all required permits and approvals.

•     Before occupancy, the selected operator must provide proof of at least $2,000,000 commercial general liability insurance per occurrence, name the Corporation of the Municipality of Wawa as an additional insured, and comply with Algoma Public Health and all applicable laws.

YOUR PROPOSAL SHOULD INCLUDE

•     Business name and contact information.

•     Relevant experience and qualifications, including food-safety training.

•     Proposed menu or concept, intended operating hours, staffing and service approach.

•     Proposed monthly rent payable to the Municipality, plus HST.

•     Confirmation that the insurance, licensing, health and safety requirements can be met.

Proposals will be reviewed based on relevant experience, the proposed operating concept and the rental offer. The Municipality may seek clarification and may accept or reject any or all proposals. This Expression of Interest does not commit the Municipality to award an agreement or reimburse proposal preparation costs.
