Notice of Passing of Zoning By-Law Amendment - Temporary Use Zoning By-Law Amendment
TEMPORARY USE ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT – 120 PINEWOOD DRIVE
TAKE NOTICE that on the 2nd day of June 2026, The Corporation of the Municipality of Wawa adopted a zoning by-law amendment under Sections 34 and 39 of the Ontario Planning Act to amend Zoning By-law No. 2821-15 for lands municipally known as 120 Pinewood Drive.
The zoning by-law amendment provides for a temporary use by-law by adding:
1. Temporary Use Exception – 120 Pinewood Drive
Notwithstanding the provisions of Zoning By-law No. 2821-15, lands legally described as Part Location CK-85, Registered Plan 1R-1265, Parts 1 to 3, Parcels 5528 AWS, municipally known as 120 Pinewood Drive, may be used for a temporary work camp accommodation and accessory uses to provide temporary housing for up to 175 persons associated with work at Alamos Gold for a period of up to 36 months (3 years).
2. THAT Schedule A-1 of By-law Number 2821-15 of The Corporation of the Municipality of Wawa is hereby amended in accordance with the adopted by-law to apply a temporary use exception to the subject lands at 120 Pinewood Drive for a period not exceeding three years from the date of passing.
THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the Zoning By-law Amendment is to permit a temporary work camp accommodation (trailers) and accessory uses on lands at 120 Pinewood Drive to provide temporary housing accommodations for contractors performing work at Alamos Gold. The temporary use approval is valid for a period of up to 36 months (3 years), after which the lands will revert to their existing Rural (RU) zoning unless an extension is approved by Council.
TAKE NOTICE that appeals to the Ontario Land Tribunal in respect of the By-Law may be made by filing a written notice of appeal with the Clerk of the Municipality of Wawa, no later than the 22nd day of June, 2026, setting out the reasons for the appeal and accompanied by the Ontario Land Tribunal Appellant Form (A1) and required fee made payable to the Minister of Finance. This form is available on-line at https://olt.gov.on.ca/.
IF A PERSON or public body did not make oral or written submissions to the Municipality of Wawa before the By-Law was passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal. Only individuals, corporations, and public bodies may appeal the By-Law. A Notice of Appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. A Notice of Appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf. No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the By-Law was passed, the person or public body made oral submissions at a Public Meeting or written submissions or, in the opinion of the Ontario Land Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
