On behalf of the Members of Council and citizens of Wawa, I welcome you to the Wawa Website. Our Famous Wawa Goose, used throughout our web pages, is the largest of its kind in Canada and one of the most photographed landmarks in North America.

The Municipality of Wawa is nestled along the northern shore of Lake Superior, approximately 227 Kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie. With a population of 3,700, this beautiful community offers an abundant amount of services and activities for all seasons. Snowmobiling is a growing activity in the region offering hundreds of miles of wilderness trails. The annual Wawa Lake Trout (and Whitefish) Ice Fishing Derby is one of the largest derbies in Northern Ontario which is held in early March. During the summer months, the annual Wawa Salmon Derby is conducted on Lake Superior attracting anxious anglers from all walks of life. In fact, some of the visitors to our area refer to us as the hunting and fishing capital of Ontario.
