Hey Rob. I just wanted to tell you that I am heading up to Wawa on the 5th of Aug for a week. Now you say you likely will never get back, even though you want to. Well I would gladly go back up with you sometime in September if it works for you. I can do the driving and I know a great place with cabins to stay. On a sad note our Uncle Jimmy in Toledo Ohio passed away. He was 83. I feel bad, but couldn't get down for the funeral. take care and keep in touch

Just stopping in to ask a question. Two weeks ago I put a message into this board and it was contacting my brother. It was posted for a few days and then it was deleted. I am wondering who, or why someone would do that. We were both born in Wawa many years ago and left under tough times. As time moves on I don't see my brother and I found this place was one in which he visited and we could leave small notes once in while. We didn't use it like an email location. Just sorry because he probably never got to read my message. We don't get on line on this site very often, maybe 2 times a month or so. Too bad, hope I hear back.

This is my 1st visit to the message board to I had to read it through to the end. Congrats were expressed for George Burns re 204 Reunion website, etc- allow me to add mine too, and also to Dennis Garood. They both were instrumental in building the website. Belated thanks and congrats to the usual cast of caring characters that staged a magnificent reunion. I recognize most of the same persons from the '60's event -you guys are great!
I enjoy reading all the positive comments about Wawa...obviously I can only add to the chorus. I lived there for most of the '50s and '60s and I still say, when asked "where are you from?" - "I'm from Wawa", with no disrespect to my birthplace, but it is special and it was special. I read the Air Cadet announcement/invitation to join - kids...DO IT! Some of my best memories with some of my best buddies were due to the Air Cadets. I think everyone can get the gist of my message. A score of 5 doesn't do it justice!!!!!!!!!Have a great day!

The 3054 Michipicoten Army Cadets meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Polish Hall (side entrance) on Mission Road. There are no registration fees, dues or cost for the uniforms or for the basic Cadet Program. Cadets and parents are encouraged to participate in fundraising. Cadets is a federally-sponsored program for young Canadians ages 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of challenging and rewarding activities, and learning more about the Canadian Forces.
This was the last free program offered to the youth of Wawa, but with a lack of cadets and instructors, the outcome was clear - close. Over the weekend, there was a shift in thinking, possibly because this is the last free program for our youth to participate in. If the Cadet corp can attract 10-15 cadets and perhaps a few instructors, the corp may have a new lease on life.
Locally our cadets participate and compete in the following events: Zone and area air rifle competitions, Area Biathalon Competitions, Area Army Cadet Challenge, National Star Certification, Annual Turkey Shoot, Summer Camp (Staff Positions), Summer Camp (cadet), James Bay Frontier Training Exercise (Fall and Winter), Annual Winter Camping Trip, Tri-Service Sports Competition (Army, Sea and Air Cadet Competition), and local Remembrance Day Parades. Cadets can also apply for Summer Camp (100% Free), of 2, 3, 4 week durations. Cadets will also receive a small training bonus while attending. After four years in the Cadet Program, a cadet may apply to be a Cadet Instructor at Camp and be paid upwards of $4,000 for their work at camp. There are also Senior Camps - overseas that cadets may attend at no cost.
Cadets are not part of the Canadian Forces, nor is there any expectation for them to join the military.

Dear Wawa, my name is Stephanie and I'm looking for a summer rental for myself and 2 other roommates. We will be returning to the MNR as firerangers. We are three clean, neat, quiet girls who are looking for a nice place to live for the summer (April 1st-September 2010). Two of us are working on university degrees and are looking for a nice house to call home. We are very neat and tidy, and are good in the kitchen (baking and cooking!!)If you can help us and point up in the direction of either a rental (house/summer home/camp) in the wawa area or a home for sale that are willing to rent we would be greatly appreciative. Any help with this matter would be great! We look forward to returning to Wawa for another summer. Thank you

Hi everyone in wawa. my name is derrick Briere. Son of Sharon and Claude Briere. i just wanted to take this time to, reflex about my Grandma.
My grandma's name was Geraldine rose halverson leclerc ross, she unfortunatly passed away a couple of years ago, which seems like forever. Some people may have forgotten,but not me. My grandma ment so much to me, and i miss every day she;s not here. As a lilltle boyi couldnt wait till we made the 12 hour drive up north just to see her.

Well Wawa you never cease to amaze me. I have been here for the last week and I love it more each day. The people are so nice, and everyone says hello. Staying at High Falls Cabins and I must say this is perfect. Great rooms, fully equipped and very reasonable. We have golfed, visited and number of restaurants, went to a Salmon Derby, had a pancake breakfast at the Marina as well as a fantastic fish fry. I am going to hate to leave here tomorrow, but I will be back in October. Thanks Wawa again for being such a great town. I hope to move here sometime in the near future.

We love Wawa and this will be our 8th year of coming to Wawa for fishing & fun. We'll be at RBL for a couple days before heading up to Dog Lake. Traveling the back roads and relaxing, watch out Maurice we are on our way. Watch for the big blue bus. Of cource will have to stop & say heloo to our friends at Youngs & the High Falls Motel.

I just visited WAWA, and its so nice. I stayed at the Motor Inn and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The town is cute and I love the goose lights on the street lights. I will be back in a month on my way home and will make sure to stop and take more pictures.
