Employment Opportunity – Asset Management Coordinator

Located in picturesque North Algoma (220 kilometers north of Sault Ste Marie) and on the shores of Lake Superior the Municipality of Wawa seeks a motivated, proactive person to fill the NEW position of ASSET MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting all departments and municipal partners in ensuring adequate provision is made for operations, maintenance and long-term replacement of all municipal assets.
  2. Assisting in implementing the appropriate asset management strategies and updating of Asset Management Plans for the assets of all municipal departments and municipal partners. The strategies shall be based on the Ontario Municipal Asset Management Planning Regulation
  3. Continually seeking and communicating opportunities for improving efficiencies in operations, maintenance and asset replacement practices
  4. Assisting in conducting asset inspections and integrating the information collected into the municipal asset management software and system
  5. Providing support to the Directors of municipal departments and municipal partners for the ongoing management of operational and capital improvements of assets owned and operated by the Municipality
  6. Providing support to the Directors of municipal departments and municipal partners in communicating asset management practices to ratepayers, NGO’s and the Provincial and Federal governments
  7. Assisting in the preparation of all grant applications that are associated with municipal assets or municipal asset plans

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary education in accounting and/or asset management related matters
  2. Must be able to write staff reports and municipal policies
  3. Minimum three years’ experience in municipal accounting and governance practices
  4. Proven ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and organizations to solve problems and develop programs which address the asset needs of the municipality.
  5. Knowledge of leading practices and associated changes in municipal asset management
  6. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a good working knowledge of Vadim Accounting Software and the ESRI platform.

Salary Range: The 2017 Salary Range is $27.07 – $33.07 per hour. An excellent benefit package is also available
